The method involves verifying the absence of a badge inside a vehicle e.g. passenger car, by an expectation, at the moment at which a user quits the vehicle such that all badges present in a proximity zone signal the disappearance by a `badge remote` useful message. The vehicle is locked automatically after all the badges are signaled remote from the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle locking system for implementing a vehicle locking method.
