A burner has an injection valve (14) for supplying fuel to the burner and a blower (18) for supplying air to the burner. An integrated control unit (24) adjusts the desired fuel-air-ratio in the burner. The control unit adapts a fuel mass, which is supplied from the injection valve to the burner to an air mass, which is supplied from the blower to the burner. Air is raised from the blower and is supplied with a separation ratio in the burner. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a motor vehicle with a burner; and (2) the operation of a burner.
