A cold fusion system for controlling the power of an electricity generator with ionizing chambers having palladium electrodes (5) that are a source of nuclear fusion reactions of deuterium cores dissolved in the metal uses screens (12) of an insulating material inserted between the electrodes to act as absorbers of high-energy protons that are the vector of chain reactions between the electrodes. It also employs external electromagnets (18) that act on the magnetic cores (16) to which the screens are attached and are surrounded by return springs (19) sliding inside non-magnetic tubes (15) with closed ends. In the event of an excess of power or other anomaly the current in the electromagnets is inverted to close the screens quickly.
