The method involves acquiring an ultrasound image of a portion of the multi-layer blood vessel having ultrasound contrast agents. An intima-medial thickness of the contrast enhanced image is determined automatically using an algorithm excuting in an integrated ultrasound scanner. An independent claim is included for integrated ultrasound device.
