The traffic lights (Feu 1, Feu 2, Feu 3, Feu 4) located at the corners of a road intersection are fitted with sensors (5) that evaluate the degree of congestion and transmit data to a computer which determines the sequence of the lights. The data takes into account vehicles (2) waiting to turn, lines of traffic (3) blocking the intersection and the volume of waiting traffic (7). Once the congestion is relieved the traffic signal sequence returns to normal.
