P a method of controlling an automatic transmission of a power unit for a motor vehicle, comprising a step of generating a first signal of the torque setpoint to be applied to the wheels, which is representative of the desire of the motor vehicle driver and which comprises two components respectively (cs) static and dynamic range (cd _ conditions).
