The device for information regarding carbon dioxide emissions during operation of motor vehicles, has a facility whereby the present and/or average CO2 values are visually indicated to the driver in the field of vision. The visual indications may be effected via the display of an on-board computer or via a head-up display. A symbol which corresponds to the environmental protection is placed underneath the respective numeric value of the carbon dioxide emission, or is shown exclusively.
