The exhaust flue element (2A, 2B) is for insertion flue systems for exhaust gas from fireplaces. The material used for it is an austenite-ferrite duplex stainless steel. The austenite and ferrite components are largely similar. The duplex stainless steel may have a nitrogen content of more than 0.15, preferably 0.20-0.30 wt.%.
