The textile lining material, for an automobile interior, has a carrier layer (1) with a velvet pile (2) formed by a tufting machine. The carrier layer is a needle-bonded nonwoven of fusible fibers, with projecting fibers (3) on the side towards the pile. The pile fibers are bonded in place by the fusible fibers of the nonwoven. The nonwoven has a second backing (4) of a foam and/or felt.
