A method for evaluating data for a keyless entry system for a vehicle has one of more antennas on the vehicle to transmit low frequency signals which are evaluated by receivers on the vehicle and by the hand held entry control, which sends a high frequency response with release code. The on board system can thus determine the position of the hand held unit and release the appropriate locks.
