The axle has an axle lifting device with a hydraulic cylinder (7), which is supported at a vehicle structure (3) over a connecting element (9) and exerts a lifting force on a semi-trailing arm (1) by another connecting element (10). The cylinder is horizontally arranged in construction position underneath the arm, and is fastened directly to a lower side of the arm by the connecting element (10). The connecting element (10) is welded with the semi-trailing arm, and provides the arm with a u-shaped profile.
