The method involves monitoring the load demand, detecting a boost load demand if the load demand is greater than or equal to a defined load threshold, determining an electrical energy amount for producing an increased drive moment of the electrical machine (6) sufficient to accelerate the vehicle dependent on a deceleration profile to be anticipated and generating an increased drive moment with the electrical machine using only the defined energy amount.
