The method involves utilizing a heating device for de-throttling of an internal combustion engine in a partial load of the engine, where the device additionally heats a suction air and air-guided channels for air quantity and power controlling. The heating is fastly deactivated during transition to a high engine load by opening the valve and deactivating the device. An air-guided pipe comprising an air-filter (2), an air flow meter and an intercooler in an area of suction air parts upstream to the device is held close to an ambient air temperature by ambient air and/or limited leakage current. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for variably pre-heating a suction air for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine e.g. petrol engine (2) a heat exchanger for heating a suction air of an internal combustion engine.
