The unit (1) has a light source (2), where a light guiding unit (3) is provided upstream of the light source in a main radiation direction of the light source. The light guiding unit has a light coupling surface for coupling light emitted from the light source to a rear side facing the light source. Outer surfaces of outer deflection areas are formed in such a manner that the light is uncoupled in a common lateral preferred direction, which forms a pointed angle to the main radiation direction of the light source.
