The mechanism has a brake unit (25) with a friction unit that is pressed against a brake disk (2) or released from the brake disk by an actuator. The brake unit is supported at a counter bearing (7). A rod arrangement (4) and sensors are arranged between the brake unit and the counter bearing, where the rod arrangement exhibits a compression- or tension rod (6a, 6b) that is stretched or compressed during loading. The sensors measure a braking torque (Fr) or a magnitude proportional to the braking torque based on a deformation of the compression- or tension rod.
