The method involves utilizing several different correlation detector types for estimation and minimization of a residual error relating to distance during multi-path channel estimation, while receiving digital radio signals in the receiver. The residual error is influenced differently according to its respective delay-dependent error envelop eigen characteristic reflections. The reflections are inferred back due to the different, delay-dependent eigen characteristics of the different correlation detector types.
