Cylinder block (1) comprises cylinder heads (4) held pre-stressed in a sealing contact with a sealing counter surface (11) of the block by a common tension ring (13) enclosing the block. Preferred Features: A part of the outer surface of the cylinder heads in contact with the tension ring is curved with respect to the block. The tension ring has a flat cross-section extending over a larger part of the block.
