Vibration damper which has fastening thread for piston on piston rod catch (3), whereby piston is fastened by piston nut (13) screwed onto fastening thread (7), and fusable securing means to prevent the piston nut from loosening. The fusable material (23) is laid on the front surface of the nut after the piston nut is screwed onto the piston rod catch. After it has hardened in the ring nut (19) of the fastening thread is makes a form closure between the piston rod catch and piston nut. Fusable material is formed form a ring-shaped blank which lies on the piston nut. Piston nut has ring ridge to side facing away from piston to support the fusable material radially.
