Ring display instrument for e.g. car, has bright/dark indication and sensor e.g. radiation sensor, that are arranged on ring, where position of pointer within instrument is detected using bright/dark indication
The instrument has an illuminatable pointer (2) that is arranged on a ring (1) and is driven by a motor (3) in two different directions of rotation based on a display value. A bright/dark indication (4) is arranged on the periphery of the ring and a sensor (5) e.g. radiation sensor or magnetic sensor, is arranged on the indication, where the position of the pointer within the instrument is detected by the indication. A scale is arranged around the ring, where the pointer in cooperation with the scale indicates the display value to a user. An independent claim is also included for a method for increasing the display accuracy of a display instrument in a motor vehicle.
