Fungal pores detecting method involves separating cereals from adherent particle. Sediments with fungal pores are automatically recorded as a digital image by a microscope with image recording device. The digital image is segmented into background and object. The characteristics e.g. size and shape, of the object is determined. The object is classified according to presence of the fungal pores, number of fungal pores or type of the fungal pores, based on the comparison of the determined characteristic with fungal pores stored in a database. The classification results are stored in a data processing system. Independent claims are included for: (1) a device for detecting and determining fungal pores in cereals (2) a computer-program product with program code for executing a method of detecting and determining fungal pores in the cereals (3) a digital storage medium for executing a method of detecting and determining fungal pores in the cereals.
