Floor structure for vehicle body has centre support and two longitudinal sills and two cross supports running on an incline and extending from centre support to sill for maximum resistance in front and rear impact
The floor structure has two longitudinal sills (1, 2) and a centre support (8). Two cross supports (10,11) extend from the centre support to the sills and at least one side (10a,10b) of each support runs along an incline (14) opposite the cross direction (12) which is at right angles to the longitudinal direction (7). The cross supports have a wedged or trapezoidal shape in plan view and can be made of steel, aluminium or magnesium. The cross supports can be made from reinforced fibre plastics.
