Analyzing samples in connection with cardiovascular diseases comprises determining the concentration of at least one inflammation marker selected from fibrinogen, soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor-2 (sTNFR-2), interleukin-18, asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), caspase-1, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1), resistin and soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1), and comparing the results with reference data. Analyzing samples in connection with cardiovascular diseases comprises determining the concentration of at least one inflammation marker selected from fibrinogen, soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor-2 (sTNFR-2), interleukin-18, asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), caspase-1, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1), resistin and soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1), optionally determining the concentration of at least one other marker selected from soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor-1 (sTNFR-1), troponin T, interleukin-6, C-reactive protein (CRP), selectins, CD40, lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 and other inflammatory markers, and comparing the results with reference data. An independent claim is also included for a diagnostic kit for analyzing samples as above (no details given).
