A composition comprising an acidic polysaccharide is provided to show strong inhibition effect on hemagglutination caused by Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus without showing any inhibition effect on useful bacteria to human, thereby being usefully used for preventing and treating acne and atopic skin diseases. The composition for preventing and treating acne and atopic skin diseases comprises an acidic polysaccharide obtained by hot-water extracting crushed Camellia sinensis leaves and then precipitating the extract in ethanol. In the composition, the acidic polysaccharide is a fraction which is obtained by dissolving the ethanol precipitate in a phosphate buffer solution, dialyzing it and performing ion-exchange chromatography and gel-permeation chromatography thereon and has the activity of inhibiting human cellular interaction of Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus.
