摘要

A motion estimation method using a sketch operator based block matching algorithm, a coding method of a moving picture and a coding apparatus thereof are provided to exactly estimate the two-dimensional displacement of a moving object within a video screen. The first sketch calculating member(210) converts the present frame of an input frame into the first sketch image. The second sketch calculating member(220) converts the previous frame or the previous reproduction frame into the second sketch image. A block matching member(230) estimates the motion vectors of each target block. A moving picture encoder performs the motion estimation of the present frame image by means of the previous reproduction frame image.
