An image forming device for setting up an environment with a panel equipped with an RF(Radio Frequency) chip and an environment setting method thereof are provided to enable a user unfamiliar to the device to easily confirm an initial environment and change setting by using a setting panel equipped with the RF chip. The setting panel(300) includes setting information and displays the setting information to surface. A setting panel mounting part(410) mounts the setting panel. An RF communicator(420) reads the setting information stored in the setting panel mounted to the setting panel mounting part. A controller(440) makes at least one job of scanning, printing, and copying according to the setting information read from the RF communicator. The setting information is at least one of a paper size, single/dual printing, color/mono mode, resolution, layout setting, a paper direction, a printing ratio, and watermark setting.
