A continuously variable, at least temporarily power-split transmission, especially for a motor vehicle, comprises a drive shaft which can be driven by an engine, a variator with continuously changing gear ratios, a gear set, a driven shaft, at least two steering clutches by means of which the variator and the gear set can be connected in such a manner that the range of variation of the variator is repeatedly covered when the entire range of gear ratios is covered. In order to adjust the variator, a respective means for producing an axial force for adjusting a cone pulley of a cone pulley pair is provided for each cone pulley pair. The transmission also has means for detecting a speed variation and a control device. The control device is adapted to detect whether the speed variation is brought about by a change of the gear ratio or not. When the speed variation is not brought about by a change of the gear ratio, the control device modifies the axial force of the means for producing the axial force in such a manner that the speed variation which is not brought about by a change of the gear ratio is compensated for.
