An event log managing device stores a cause event deemed to cause an event log and its corresponding keywords included in the event log caused by the cause event in a memory unit. When a user selects an event log subjected to retrieval and “a cause event retrieval”, the event log managing device reads out the selected event log from the memory unit, resolves the same and picks up keywords included in the event log. The cause event corresponding to the picked-up keywords is retrieved from the memory unit. If the picked-up keywords, for instance, are “A, B and E” and the cause event corresponding to keywords “A and B” in the memory unit is “a fun error”, the “fun error “ is output to a monitor as “a cause event retrieval result”.
