Disclosed is a chiral phase-transfer catalyst having a simplified structure, which can be produced by reacting a 2,2'-dimethylenebromide-1,1'-binaphthyl derivative (which can be produced in relatively small numbers of steps) with a secondary amine (which is readily available). The catalyst is a compound represented by the formula (I) having a long-chain alkyl group R7 in its chemical structure. The catalyst is expected to show a high stereoselectivity even in a reaction where a conventional catalyst does not show a satisfactory stereoselectivity such as an asymmetric alkylation reaction.
