The rapid identification of Bacillus cereus with programmed control consists of preparation of tubes each containing a reaction mixture specific to the target bacteria. A thermal cycler, a light source and a sensor give programmed simultaneous monitoring of multiple amplifications of nucleic acid. Oligonucleotides are used to detect the presence and absence of the bacteria e.g. in the food industry.
