The invention relates to the field of water treatment, in particular to the sorption purification of potable water, making biosorbents based on natural organic high-molecular compounds, and can be used for improving user quality of water. A biosorbent for purification of potable water, which contains material based on cellulose as carrier, and it contains polysaccharide cross-linked with epichlorohydrine as biopolymer, is proposed. The biosorbent is produced by an interaction of cellulose material and biopolymer in the solution of activator respecting temperature and time parameters, which provides immobilization of polysaccharide on the carrier in the form of nano-film or porous sponge.
