Preparation of three dimensional copies of works of art, e.g. paintings, involves recording image with laser and using digitalized data to carry out laser cutting, milling or casting of artwork
A micro-wattage laser (0.1 micro-watt) with a specially adapted lens is used to record the image of the art, including the different colors, and digitalize it by a non-contact method. The laser is mounted on a motor-driven guide which can be moved along a rail next to the artwork. An image can also be recorded of the rear side. The data can be converted into an nc file in order to allow the artwork to be cut from a plastic panel using a milling machine or laser, or cast from different materials such as flexible, hard or transparent plastic or different types of white concrete.
