In the present invention, there is disclosed a method of determining reactivity of limestone suspensions and additive limestone suspensions for flue gas wet desulphurization wherein the method is characterized in that reactivity of a starting material intended for flue gas desulphurization is determined based on measurement of time behavior of COi2 liberated by degradation of the COi3e2- group due to contact of the suspension with a gas stream containing SOi2, whereby this time dependence is fully equivalent to a time dependence of the Cae2+ soluble form concentration growth. Just the speed of limestone dissolution, i.e. the speed of Cae2+ ion liberation into a solution is a control mechanism of the limestone wet desulphurization technology of liquids. The novel method of determining reactivity of limestone suspensions and additive limestone suspensions for flue gas wet desulphurization makes it further possible to work directly with an actual limestone suspension, whereby no selection of granulometric fraction is carried out.
