PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support material wherein metal halide, metal hydroxide, metal oxide and a metal are supported on a mesopore carrier of inorg. oxide having pores (mesopores) having a definite size uniformly. ;SOLUTION: A metal halide supporting mesopore material is a porous material of inorg. oxide having a large number of pores having a uniform size within a range of 2-10nm and metal halide is bonded to the functional groups on the inner surfaces of at least pores. The pores of the inorg. oxide porous material is desirably set so that the pore size showing the max. peak in a pore distribution curve is within the range of 2-10nm and 60% or more of pores desirably have a pore size within a range of ±40% of the pore size showing the max peak in a pore size distribution curve. The porous material of inorg. oxide and metal halide are reacted in an org. solvent to form the bonding of metal halide and the functional group of inorg. oxide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
