PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map editing/displaying device enabling a user to easily recognize from which area and when a map was obtained, and to easily erase an unnecessary map. ;SOLUTION: A map editing/displaying device 9 for editing and using map data obtains the map data from a center 10 storing a map database recorded with the latest map data. The map of one area or a plurality of areas simultaneously obtained from the center 10 is stored in a map data storing section 4 of the map editing/displaying device together with obtained unit information. The area of the obtained map, obtained time, obtained capacity, etc., are recorded as obtained unit information in order to manage the simultaneously obtained map as one unit. When erasing a map, the user displays the list of the obtained unit information and selects the unnecessary map. The selected map can be collectively deleted by each obtained unit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
