PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength steel for a fireproof building structure superior in high-temperature properties at 800°C with a yield strength of more than 455 N/mm2 at room temperature, and a method for manufacturing a thick steel plate thereof.;SOLUTION: This high-strength steel comprises, by mass%, 0.02-0.10% C, 0.02-0.8% Si, 0.5% or less Mn, 0.001-0.1% Al, more than 0.3% but 1.0% or less Mo, 0.01-0.20% Nb, 0.01-0.10% Ti, 0.0005-0.010% B, and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities, has the Ac1 transformation temperature of 800-900°C, and has one or more composite precipitates of Mo-Nb, Mo-Ti, and Mo-Nb-Ti, with particle sizes of 0.005-0.2μm dispersed in the steel with mean spacing between grains of 20 μm or less.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
