PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated cutting tip with a hard coating layer achieving excellent anti-chipping performance in high-speed cutting work.;SOLUTION: This coated cutting tip comprises the hard coating layer of a lower layer of Ti compound and an upper layer of α-type Al2O3 which are formed by deposition on the surface of tip base material. Polishing fluid including SiC grains as spray polishing material is sprayed by wet blast as a layer of subject material composed of a layer of metal nitride out of CrN, HfN, ZrN, and VN, each having average layer thickness of 0.5-5 μm, is formed by deposition along the whole surface of the upper layer of α-type Al2O3 for polishing the surface of the upper layer of α-type Al2O3, except for the subject material layer at the periphery of a tool mounting hole to achieve a surface roughness Ra of 0.2 μm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
