PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte lithium ion battery in which primary particles will not be dissociated easily even if a high power charge/discharge is conducted. PSOLUTION: The material is composed of secondary particles having a lithium compound 20 and a lithium-transition metal oxide particle 10 and the above lithium compound does not contain a transition metal and the number of moles of lithium in the above secondary particles are more than the number of moles of the transition metal.
