PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible plate compactor having a driver and a directional control body providing the motion of a vibrator housing in a safe state. ;SOLUTION: A driven pulley 38 is fitted onto a shaft 34 of a vibrator housing 36. A directional control arm 54 provides control by manual operation providing selective pivot positioning of the vibrator housing 36. A flexible endless belt transmits driving force of a driving pulley 48 to the driven pulley 38. A part fitted to an engaging end part 58 of the directional control arm 54 is engaged with one of two tangential strands of the flexible endless belt 52 so as to pivotally offset the vibrator housing 36 from a first end part to a second end part, and this pivotal offset controls the self-advancing direction of a plate compactor 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
