PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open deck type cylinder block and a gasket capable of suppressing deformation of cylinder bores positioned at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder block when assembling the open deck type cylinder block on a cylinder head through the gasket.;SOLUTION: Since wall parts 20, 20 having substantially the same shape as a part of a bore wall of a virtual cylinder bore connected with bore walls 3a, 6a of cylinder bores 3, 6 are connected with sections opposing to external walls 10, 10 of the cylinder block in the transverse direction of the cylinder block 1 of bore walls 3a, 6a of the cylinder bores 3, 6 positioned at both ends of the open deck type cylinder block 1, respectively, and gasket beads along upper faces of each wall part 20, 20 are formed in the gasket, tightening force of a head bolt when assembling is not concentrated in only cylinder bores 3, 6 at both ends and is dispersed into each wall part 20, 20 to suppress deformation of the cylinder bores 3, 6 at both ends.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
