A machine that determines the quantity of newspapers, magazines, periodicals, and books that is to be supplied to any given sales outlet. More particularly, the invention relates to the process of analysing the data generated by the supply chain in a particular analytical framework to further enhance the value of that information for the publisher of the newspapers, magazines, periodicals or books. A machine has a data import and checking facility, a set of pre-processing rules, a top line forecasting capability, a capability to break the forecast into groups of outlets, a set of post processing rules, a capability to export data, a capability to incorporate into other distribution machines, a subscription management capability, and enables users to access the information via different methods e.g. using web browsers, mobile phones, Pdas.
