Safety device for protecting operator of e.g. soil auger, has carpet forming unit constituted of three carpets that deliver electrical information representative of pressure exerted by operator or tool on carpets
The device has a carpet forming unit disposed on the ground proximate to an action point in the ground of a drilling tool and constituted of three carpets (34, 36, 38), where the carpets deliver electrical information representative of the pressure exerted on the carpets by an operator or a tool. A processing unit processes a signal delivered by the carpet to distinguish the presence of the operator or the tool. The processing unit delivers a control signal when the presence of the operator is detected, where the control signal is applied to a control unit (40) to trigger an alarm signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for securing a drilling machine.
