The method involves determining two positions and a possible speed of a moving magnetic target along a direction (Y). A third position of the target is determined on a trajectory (28) defined with respect to the direction, based on the possible speed and a subsequent time. The approached position and speed of the target are determined based on the three positions. An independent claim is also included for a device to locate a moving magnetic target.
