摘要
The pollutant removal procedure consists of introducing the pollutants in solid, liquid or gas form into a planted filter bed with vertical (2) and horizontal (3) filters, and watering the bed periodically to provide anaerobic and aerobic phases. The watering allows the filter bed to be saturated during the anaerobic phases and left to dry in the aerobic phases, with the irrigation and drying phases have a relative duration that is preferably between 1 : 1 and 1 : 20. The filter bed has a drainage layer which is connected to an aeration system and another layer with the physical properties of alluvial materials with a high porosity, hydraulic conductivity and which is rich in organic materials. In another stage acidifying products or natural acids such as citric, oxalic or malic acid and preferably totally biodegradable, are added to the filter bed during watering to reduce the pH from 7 - 9 to 4 - 7. The plants used in the filter bed are e.g. varieties of reeds, rushes, sedges and irises, or trees such as willow, alder and wild cherry.
