The gasket (10) has a foam covering (24) connected to a rigid core (22), and that is in contact with a cylinder head (14) to be sealed. A rib (28) is provided at the core, and a projecting part of the rib is oriented towards the covering. The rib has a height lower than thickness of the covering, and of 10 to 50 percent of thickness of the covering. An independent claim is also included for a method of making a gasket.
