Bulk storage tank or flat-bottom tank for water-endangering fluids has floating roof with sheet metal membrane and radial stiffening struts to form central bulge in roof when moving up and down, for drainage of rainwater
The floating roof consists of a thin metal sheet membrane resting on the fluid surface, with roof supports and stiffening radial struts (10). Number and distribution of the radial struts are chosen, so that when floating, the membrane (7) has a central bulge with a drop to the edge. Number and distribution also determine number and distribution of reinforcing plates for the tank bottom. The struts have alternating positioned roof supports (26), which project vertically into the tank interior when the roof floats, and are otherwise supported on the bottom plates. A drainage pipe (17) is located on the underside of the membrane near the outer edge wall, and connected to three roof sections (13), each of which has an associated drainage valve (15).
