The mousetrap has several chambers (27) on different levels. These are entered by sloping plates (23) mounted on pivots (22) and with a counterweight (24) at the lower end. The plates swivel downwards when the mouse enters and a barrier plate (25) at the upper end prevents the mouse from leaving the trap.
