Pixel data filtering method for use in video encoder and decoder, involves filtering left, right and top edges of block, where left edge is perpendicular to top edge, and right edge is parallel to left edge
The method involves filtering left, right and top edges of a block, where the left edge is perpendicular to the top edge, and the right edge is parallel to the left edge. Neighbor block pixel data is pre-fetched to a register array, and current block pixel data is pre-fetched to another register array. Boundary strength of the current edge is found in response to the pre-fetched neighbor and current pixel data. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a pipelined deblocking filter for filtering blocks of pixel data (B) a program storage device comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for filtering blocks of pixel data.
