A spot weld cap changer has a cap removal station (2) with two opposing grips (20) terminating in opposing jaws (21, 22), both with approximately parallel grip surfaces (23). The grip surface intervals (A) are slightly less than those of the welding cap diameter (DK). Each cap magazine (3, 3A) has a cap bearer (31) and a spring case (33) that advances (P) the caps (K) against a stop. In pick-up presentation, the rim cover (44) reaches over and embraces the cap on one side.
