The method involves generating test patterns (41) configured for visual evaluation with respect to writing quality, in several test fields with different parameter values, and generating visually detectable IDs for each test fields. The test field with best quality is determined, and its ID is entered into a control device of imaging head so that parameter value of test field corresponding to entered ID is set automatically.
