The smoke composure device has at least an extraction hood (12), a central exhaust area (24) and an edge exhaust area (36). The central exhaust area is surrounded by the edge exhaust area. The edge exhaust area has a ring opening (34) which is of varying width. An independent claim is also included for method for the smoke composure.
